Canberra residents can look forward to a new additional MRT station on the North-South Line between Sembawang and Yishun which sets to be completed in 2019. It helps to create a faster and more convenience travelling for commuters.
The future North-South Expressway will also create a shorter travelling time to and from the city and provides an alternative travelling method for residents.
Residents are spoilt for choices with more introduction of the leisure options. The new one-stop community hub brings Sembawang to a higher level of greenery – providing residents with more sports and community amenities. As part of the Round Island Route, cyclists can connect to other parts of Singapore through the expanded cycling network.
Woodlands Regional Centre is to create business hubs outside the city centre. This not only provides more locational choices for businesses but also brings jobs and amenities closer to homes, thus reducing the need to travel towards the city centre.
There will be two distinct precincts in the Woodlands Regional Centre. For now, one is called the Woodlands North Coast which is allocated 70ha land and includes the area between Republic Polytechnic and the Woodlands Waterfront. It will be a waterfront destination with a vibrant mix of business, residential and lifestyle uses.
The other precinct, Woodlands Central will have a 30ha for retail hub with community and leisure amenities and a lively street experience, located around the Woodlands MRT station. It is envisaged as a pedestrian-friendly regional retail hub serving residents in the North Region. Residents can look forward to a bustling pedestrian mall that serves as a key focal point for leisure and community events. It will be flanked by low-rise commercial developments with bustling activity-generating uses on the first storey to create a vibrant street experience. The North-South MRT line will soon be supplemented by Thomson Line and North-South Expressway. Connectivity to the city and other parts of Singapore will expand manifold. Also, the Rapid Transit Link with JB opens up another platform of cross-border connection, in addition to the Causeway.
This regional centre will take full advantage of the unique features of Woodlands: open green and waterfront areas, Admiralty Park, and proximity to JB. It will be the northern gateway to Singapore.
The announcement of the new integrated development – North Point City transformed the Yishun community into a vibrant hub for its residents. The first community centre – New Soon Central Community Centre will be located in a shopping mall. It brings the lifestyle into a higher level.
Residents can also benefit from having a residential development integrated with commercial and retail spaces. The Northpoint Shopping Centre is the largest mall in the north of Singapore – giving residents a wide range of choices for shopping, dinning, leisure and entertainment facilities.
A air-conditioned bus interchange will be built to provide a more comfortable wait for commuters and bringing a higher living standard for the residents in Yishun.
An additional new road located at Yishun Avenue 8 is introduced to help shorten the travelling time to areas such as Punggol, Sengkang and Tampines.
